The Met’s Jared Goss on the Chic and Non-Chic

I can’t explain why unicorns aren’t chic, but they’re just not.

So says Jared Goss, curator of modern art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in this fascinating slide show about what is and is not chic in art history.

Near the end of the presentation is a slide of the Frank Lloyd Wright Room at The Met. Mr. Goss explains why the room isn’t chic. He’s right. It’s interesting to me that Wright’s interiors are panned currently, but no one has a harsh word for his buildings.
