Was doing some harmless online trolling last July with a few of my Twitter pals when one of them, Ron Fournier, mentioned being on vacation. I’d remembered from an earlier conversation that he was in northern Michigan.
I love how Ron gets sideways with me!
Here’s the pic right side up:
What do you think makes this exchange so much fun for me?
In the middle of a politically contentious week one of my Twitter friends and I managed to call time out and touch base on a personal—and non-contentious—topic.
Somebody else in this world, who on the surface is as unlike me as anyone around, is not only drawn to a place my wife and I have fantasized about visiting, but sends me pictures to keep the dream alive.
This is what I mean when I say I want what you and I have in common to take a bigger place in our conversation than whatever may divide us.
There are other folks on Twitter (and Facebook) like Ron, who are able to interrupt controversy and enjoy what we have common—but they are exceedingly rare.
I’m determined to be one of those people.
